Texas Cowboy/Cowgirl Postcard

The backstory: On Postcrossing, you can "favorite" postcards that you see (whether you send them, receive them, or see them on someone else's wall). The sender and recipient both get a message once a day about any cards of theirs that were favorited. It's kind of nice to see which cards people like best.

Yesterday I came across one that was the state of Oklahoma done up in lace. I favorited it because I liked how they used fabric to do something different and handmade. (I love handmade cards. A lot of PX'ers don't. They consider them "not REAL postcards". Postcard snobbery!)

Last night the sender/maker contacted me through PX about doing a swap - she would make me one of the lace OK cards in exchange for something from TX. I said sure! It won't count for PX records but exchanges and swaps can be fun too.

So today I made this. I'm very happy with how it turned out. Texas flag with a cowboy (cowgirl? to me it looks like a cowgirl) on a horse, with that piece cut in the shape of the state of Texas. Sewn to thin cardstock and with a cut to size index card on the back to cover the seams (I learned a bit making this!).

I'm super happy with this one! I'm going to send it in an envelope to protect it, though. It could certainly mail as a card, but it's so nice that I hate to see it get dirty or torn while traveling.
