Garden week 6

Garden photos from last Saturday...

Well things are growing by leaps and bounds. We've been lucky enough to have some good rains so we don't have to water so much.

In the first pic below you can see the big waterfall. We're considering ripping it out, saving the stones of course, and making a smaller water feature somewhere else in the yard. At this point the tech has improved so that we could get a better feature with a smaller, more efficient pump, that wouldn't also be a mosquito breeding ground. And it would open up the yard.

Because the folks are talking about "whenever we want to sell the house" and whenever that day is, let's face it, this thing is a white elephant. We have to free up the yard space because the waterfall is all the work of a pool without any pool benefits.

Anyway. As you can see, everything is growing like mad. I'm very happy that the rescued winter squash is so healthy. There are lots of flower buds so I hope soon those will open up. Good thing I like butternut squash :P

This is the "other" squash. Right now it's mixed yellow (summer) and more rescued butternut seedlings, and in the lower left is the one we think is watermelon. All of those got planted/sprouted later than the first squash box, so they're smaller.

We have so many big tomatoes, and you can see some smaller ones are starting to set as well! I can't wait for these to ripen. :D I'm so looking forward to some fresh vine ripened tomatoes!
