Pollen everywhere

Spring is 2 weeks late here because of the freezes back in January, but now it's busting out all over. Literally - all the oak and pine pollen now coats everything in sight. Cars, rocks, buildings, slow squirrels, if you suffer tree pollen allergies, this is not a good time for you.

As far as the yard goes, the lemon tree is full of flower buds, and we'll try to remember to fertilize it this spring. The grapefruit tree that we hoped would die in the freeze is also still going. We don't want or need it - it's one of these saplings that will take years upon years to do anything useful - but the wild birds like it as a perch. Also, it's in the way. So maybe this year we'll rip it out.

The mint survived everything the world had to toss at it, including complete neglect from me, and it's thriving. I'll transfer it to a different container when we clean out the grow boxes later this month.

Behind the garage is a dumb little narrow alleyway that is basically useless, between the fence and the garage wall. We've been tossing green scraps back there because why not. Last Nov/Dec I threw a bunch of butternut squash seeds back there, and now we have lots of little sprouts, some of them at 3-leaf stage. I assume they're the butternuts. They're definitely squash, and I threw a lot of squash stuff back there. Whatever it is, we'll transplant them later. Probably. Or let them grow wild, who knows?

Mom is hoping that some of the cherry tomatoes etc will pop up back there when the weather warms up. And I'm pretty sure we threw some jalapenos back there, but I don't know if those were viable, because they came free with pizzas (Papa John's puts those on the side, does anyone actually eat those things?). Maybe some onions or other stuff? idk, it all went back there.
