Water is still wet

I took a nap. We had lunch and it's still raining, and, y'know.

Anyway. Water has stabilized. Still raining but the drain seems to be working again.

A monster truck with some miserable-looking people in the back went past. I assume they were refugees, with black plastic garbage bags of stuff.

At Bro's house, the water is draining. The water is actually pretty cold, well, for what we're used to. Temp is 76 "feels like 73" and will get cooler tonight. Temps of 70s in August is unheard of. It's normally still high 90s for us.

Harvey is still a tropical storm and we're still expecting rain through Friday. I can't get a good connection to weather.com or elsewhere to see if we have any more rain bands coming through.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Florida is way more organized about hurricanes. Open the shelters early, tell people what to bring, and use airboats, because those have shallow draft and can easily go up and down flooded streets and canals.

The mandatory evacuations have started - so far, not us - but where can people go? And how can they get out?

The hummingbirds are out and about. Two very wet and bedraggled sparrows were out foraging this afternoon too. The frogs are pretty happy too.
