Things done, or not

I started working on the postal quilt again... and realized one of the fabrics I'd bought for it won't work. I might be able to use it as part of the backing. Anyway. I need another 1/2 yard of postal fabric.

Now, I've been to all 3 stores locally - oops, I just remembered the other one, but I don't know if they'll have something I can use - anyway, this may be on hold for a while if I can't find the fabric locally. If I can't get any at that 4th store then I'll take a look at the quilt festival, I guess.

Speaking of which, Mom scored 2 nights at the actual hotel facility on site at the festival this year! Woot! Not our usual days but just being able to stay at the same site the whole time, and go back to our room at any time we need to, is a huge plus.

Back to the postal quilt. It's on hold because I really can't go any farther right now without that last half yard. (And I should have enough of all the fabrics to put together a big part of the backing, heh... or figure out something else to do with these.) I looked at the kits... they all require photocopying so I can cut out pattern pieces, so I'll do that tomorrow at work on the good copier. But it meant I couldn't really start on those.

Then I found some Zion National Park fabric and asked Mom what she wants done with them. She'd bought them for me a year or two ago, they're not that big, the original thing suggested potholders, but who wants to make decorative potholders? Mom finally decided on a pillow, and this weekend we'll look at fabrics and pillow forms so I can make those.

At length I found a pattern and I think I'm going to use the last scraps of Halloween fabric to make some blocks for it. I'll just make as many blocks as I can manage and see what I end up with. It was something to work on.

Then I ended up taking 5 kids to the pool and I even got in the pool itself for the first time in... probably a couple of years? And I had a good time. Yes! And now I am utterly exhausted because I'm in bad shape. More like no shape! lel.

Oh, and tonight, two neat things: I saw what I think was Ursa Major (clouds and light pollution make it hard to tell sometimes, but it was in the right direction), and I definitely saw a bat flying around at twilight! That was super cool :D

Hey, round is a shape! At least that's what I say when people ask me if I'm in shape. We did the pool yesterday, too, and it was lovely. :D

Again, I stand in awe of your quilting. I think I managed a dozen stitches yesterday.

I'm much more Barlett pear, sadly ^^;; I mean, I still wear the same size shirt as I did 25 years ago, but the pants... ^^;;

Thank you! ^_^

I should be so lucky... I'm twice the woman I used to be, in more ways than one. :P
