How to say "Kielbasa"

Toly has always wondered why we say "kabasy" instead of "keelbahssa" like most people. It's the way my family/my mom's family always pronounced it. Yesterday I finally found out why: it turns out that our pronunciation is a Polish plural transitional form used in NJ, PA and parts of greater NYC. So our pronunciation is not weird, just regional!

My Philadelphia accent continues to dominate my speech even when I haven't lived in that state in decades!

They tell me you can still hear my Vermont accent and I haven't lived there since 1976!

Sadly, I fear that it doesn't. I thought I'd done a good job of shedding mine, but no such luck.
