I'm not the kind who notes which books I read, so I'm going to go with "in the last calendar year" rather than "2014" - I have no idea what I read in 2014. Audiobooks also count since I listen to those more than I read dead trees any more. So let's see. Best book/audiobook I read in the past year.
I'm going to go with Genghis Khan and the Making of the Modern World by Jack Weatherford. Fascinating history of the Mongols and Chinggis in particular, and how the Mongols became an enormous trade-based empire. Weatherford also has The Secret History of the Mongol Queens which I haven't read/heard yet but am looking forward to.
