Christmas gift musings

I started doing a needlework cross stitch gift for someone a while back. It got backburnered due to State Fair entry issues, Nanowrimo, and life. But it's mostly done. I might even still get it done in time for Christmas.

Thing is, while I'd love to just give this without a thought, I am by nature a worrier, so I end up wondering: Will they like it? Will it be appreciated? Will they think I'm stalking them?

'Cause it's someone on LJ, see, whom I think is nifty, and deserving of such a thing. But I don't want to come across as Nutjob #9.

So I'm not sure where to go with it yet.

'Course, if it's not done by Christmas, it won't matter much anyway, will it?

In other news, I really need to make a cross stitch icon for these sorts of posts. Just made one.

Heehee, thanks! :D Was trying to figure out what looked like both cross stitch and "unconventional", and using the mog from my Final Fantasy cross stitch</i> looked like it would work... and be recognizable too. :) Glad you like.

I love the icon!

I'm going to give one of my friends a scarf for xmas (actually, a bunch of friends), just because she's such a wonderful person. She knows she's getting a card, but I want to give her a scarf as well, because she made me feel a million times better about the xmas cards on CS thing. It's not juuuust that, but it's such an example of what she's like, I just want to do something nice for her, you know?

I think it's amazing when people make things for you, it's such a nice feeling :)

I like to do xstitches for people, too - just as appreciation. :) Small ones that I can crank out in a day or two, those are easy... this one is much bigger. XD I just hope I can get this one out in time - the recipient's birthday has already passed, and Valentine's Day would be in appropriate. ;) So I hope to have it done by Christmas, provided my many other projects don't get me sidetracked... :)

Glad you like the icon, too. :) Wanted something that both said "cross stitch" and "geek". :D

Valentine's Day would be in appropriate.

I never mind presents for Valentine's Day, even if they aren't meant to have romantic overtones. And it wouldn't occur to me that a random present for Valentine's Day was meant as a pass or something.

But I might be weird...

Hehe, that is so incredibly cute!!! I gave up on cross stitch a while back, kept starting too many projects and never completing them. As for the giftie, dont worry! If they think you are a psycho stalker, then pfft on them. I think its a nice gesture!

Thanks :) I have a lot of unfinished projects too - right now, I think it's a mother's day card (going on 5 years now), a Final Fantasy 8 sprite set, a set of teapots on 8-count (!) or 11-count, I forget which (the idea was to make them easy to see detail when they are high up on my kitchen wall), and the hummingbirds, plus the gift piece referenced above, and... I think that's really it. Oh, there's the Oranges piece I'm working on, but that doesn't count because I'm actually, you know, working on it. ^_^ That's for State Fair 2005 entry, if I get it finished by 12/17.

And yeah, I'll give it, if it gets finished in time. If not... well, maybe for St. Swithin's Day or something. ;)
